Hilary Duff Will Someday Win an Oscar

Mark my words, someday it will happen. Now, I don't think that Hilary Duff is a particularly good actress (has anybody else suffered through Raise Your Voice?) but, for God knows what reason, she just seems to be the type of pretty young thing that with the right role could win a Supporting Actress Oscar. Just picture it: Duff playing a recovering meth addict who, while selling her body to support her habit, got pregnant and had to give up her child so he/she could have a better life. With some type of baity role like that, which combines two of Oscar's favorite "types" (drug addict and whore with a heart of gold), and the fact that she would gain extra press with the "Who knew?" aspect, she could be accepting a little gold man of her own one day in the future. None of her upcoming project really scream "Oscar" at me but I have faith that one day I will be proven right. Come on, Hilary! Take that biopic role that fulfills every cliche of the genre; people will forget it in 10 years, but you'll have an Oscar!

O. M. G.

You should totally write that for her. Maybe we'll also get "Oscar winner James Henry"???

Hilary Duff will someday win an Oscar...in about ten years when people are able to overlook her Lizzie McGuire image and accept her as a grown-up actress. And old enough for people not to wince at the idea of her playing a whore.

I like Hilary Duff, though. She has a very likable screen presence. I just saw The Lizzie McGuire Movie and loved it and probably would have loved it even more if I were a younger girl. I've always been a fan of the show. I haven't had the misfortune of sitting through Raise Your Voice yet...

James, I just saw High School Musical and you're absolutely right about Ashley Tisdale. She delivers the best performance in the entire movie.

Ok, kitten.

If she gets a nomination for Best Supporting Actress, I'll be expecting YOU to to PAY for MY ticket.

After gamely screening Raise Your Voice and Cheaper by the Dozen, Material Girls proved my breaking point. I simply cannot see another Hilary Duff movie.

So, it's on you, my dear, it's entirely on you...

Let it be shouted from the rooftops: I do not think Hilary Duff is anything more than a medicore actress at best. If I had to choose a pretty young thing to win an Oscar in the future, I'd go with La Tisdale or Brittany Snow. I just think that when she decides to "stretch" and chooses a baity role, the Academy will be awed that she's more than a Disney actress. They'll be suprised that she can "act" and give her an Oscar.

Marcy, I'm glad you finally saw HSM and have now realized the brilliance of La Tisdale. I've converted someone!

Finnally a person who thinks Hilary Duff will win the Oscar someday!!! Yes, but she needs to win a good role to Ellen Page, America Ferrera, Melonie Diaz, Kirsten Stewart, Agnes Bruckner, Evan Rachel Wood, Brittany Snow, Summer Bishil, Elisabeth Moss, Satrah Bolger, La Tisdale and even Lindsay Lohan. And I didn't count most important actresses: Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway, Scarlett Johansson, Michelle Williams, Keira Knightley, Eva Green...

I'll be crazy if I heard: "Academy Award Nominee Hilary Duff", but after Hudsongate two years ago, anything is possible. But for sweet Lord: Hilary Duff and Oscar never used at the same line
