A blog currently wondering which of the One Direction boys will take him home. Other obsessions: hot boys, Britney Spears, the Disney pop princesses, French New Wave cinema.
As much as I love Kris, I can't help but feel like that win wasn't for Kris, but rather against Adam (in all his proud, queer glory.) I feel a little sick that Adam (who everyone CLEARLY expected to win) was gypped at the last moment. For now, I guess I'm just glad that I live in Canada, where the public would be more than happy to embrace someone like Adam (or like Theo Tams, very-openly-gay-on-the-show winner of last year's Canadian Idol.) Very sad that the States weren't able to just be cool for once and follow suit.
Or maybe American just wasn't ready for a yeller as their Idol? Theo was actually AMAZING. Plus he never hid his queerness and said it openly on the show. THAT'S COOL.Kris exuded that same refreshing humble/upstanding manliness while totally creating intricate and interesting, if not subtle, arrangements with his clear voice. Kris was just awesome and didn't need to be showy about it all to show his talent.
I kind of over the "Adam lost because he's gay" meme. Firstly, I don't think that's why he lost. Secondly, if we are going to play the gay victim card, can we at least use it with someone who has actually publically come out. Adam hasn't. How hard is it to accept that Kris won because a lot of people actually like Kris?
Nah, I think the vote was FOR Kris and not against him, but who the frack cares, Kris Allen is the American Idol for 2009 and I believe in God again. Dame, Vance and Vera = <3
Wow, I feel sort of attacked. :(Just trying to say something that I think needed to at least be adressed.
DL: Please don't feel attacked! I'm very glad you came here and respectfully gave your opinion. I think it's just that us Kris fans are a little tired of the "homophobia" card being dealt for Adam's (admittedly shocking) loss and that it's overshadowing Kris's awesome win. I don't think homophobia is the case because all through the season, Adam has been the front runner since day one, mercilessly pimped by the judges and beloved by people young and old who didn't give two shits he was gay while poor Kris had to fight for scraps of praise here and there. This "homophobia" didn't just appear out of nowhere on Tuesday night at 9 pm. This whole conspiracy theory sounds good at first but once you actually look at the facts, I don't think it stands up.
Hmmm, perhaps Gabriel at ModFab expressed it a little more eloquently and convincingly than I did...http://modernfabulousity.blogspot.com/2009/05/death-of-american-idol.html
And DL, I'm never in attack mode. I say everything with a grin.
DL, not to beat a dead horse, but I disagree with Gabriel even more than I disagree with you. His basic arguement is, "I know music and if you don't agree with me you must not know music, have bad taste and are wrong. And American Idol is hereby ruined forever." I'm sorry, but what a bunch of histrionic BS.BTW, please do not feel attacked. You have been disagreed with, that's all. Happens to everyone.
I'm wondering....Do you think that some people just didn't bother voting for Adam because they assumed he was going to win???And the people who wanted Kris to win, voted until their fingers fell off?
