And You Thought Judy's Pain Pill Addiction Was the Worst Thing to Happen to Her

In case you're eyes are still functioning after shoving pencils into them, here is Judy's version to wash that nastiness away.

Aaaawh come on James. Was it really that bad. I mean she was no Judy Garland...but who is...? and this is coming from a Katie Holmes hater. It was actually not bad... to be honest I'd rather her than Anne Hathaway who I heard is going to make a Judy biopic. BARF.

LOL, did the guy above me just imply somehow that Katie > Annie? Wow.

I didn't think the Katie Holmes performance was that bad. I guess it's because I approached with caution...

But...yeah, echoing Nick's thoughts, I'd rather have Anne Hathaway play Judy Garland than Katie Holmes. I was very impressed by Anne's Oscar performance.

It's not that I think Katie>Anne. I think they are both mediocre to passable. The only thing is that Katie's last performance [Mad Money] was trauma inducing in its horribleness whereas Anne's last performance was good. I just don't think Ann can or should play Judy...and this is purely from an aesthetic corner since they're evenly matched talent wise I think. Katie is prettier and curvier. Katie was fine in Pieces of April her one good performance same as Anne was good in Rachel Getting Married. Vocal wise I think Anne is too shrill to play Judy, not just singing wise because I assume they'll dub the voices for the film so I don't think we'll here whosoever singing.

That being said I don't WANT Anne or Katie doing this role, it's just a matter of the lesser of two evils. Really they should cast some Broadway star like Sutton Foster, [even though she is not that curvy and can be shrill] or Laura Benanti or just scrap the project.

I'd say Leighton Meester, but that's just lust.

Okay, so maybe it wasn't the worst thing I've ever seen (I have somehow survived through Wild Hogs) but of ALL THE PEOPLE IN THE WORLD to get to recreate that iconic dance, why on earth would you ever think to hire Katie Holmes? She's not so much bad as just distractingly mediocre.

Encore: Annie has given three (although I'm sure 99% of the people out there would disagree with at least one of them) fearless, complex and fascinating performances in her short career while Katie Holmes was on a bad teen drama and was pretty good in one indie comedy. I understand your "lesser of two evils" argument, but Katie wouldn't even begin to scratch the surface of Judy's life.

Even if Annie isn't your idea of perfection, I really don't think Broadway is the way to go. It has never made sense to me the way so many people go on and on how they should have cast so-and-so Broadway actor no one outside of NYC has ever heard of when they have so much talent in Hollywood to choose from. This isn't an attack on you, Encore, personally- just a general observation I wanted to get out there. There's often a good reason people on Broadway stay on Broadway: they're too broad and mannered for the movies. Can you imagine Patti LuPone doing a film version of Gypsy? On stage, I'm sure she was brilliant, but on film, she'd swallow everything around her whole.

But, I must admit that you have good taste in mentioning Leighton ;)

Physical dependence happens with many drugs, even non-addictive drugs, such as corticosteroids and beta-blockers, and is noticeable after a medication is stopped suddenly. Addiction is a much more severe physical dependence and brain disease, marked by an out-of-control need and craving, affecting relationships, and impacting social obligations.
